Dennis Martire boasts a longstanding tenure within the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA), stretching back to his induction in 1990. Presently, he holds the esteemed positions of Vice President and Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager, a role he has adeptly filled since January 2002. His journey within the union commenced in April 1990, assuming the mantle of International Representative for the LIUNA Jurisdictional Disputes Department. With time, he transitioned to the Laborers’ Construction Department, progressively advancing from an assistant Director to ultimately assuming the Directorship of the department.
In March 2000, Dennis Martire ascended to the role of Assistant Regional Manager for the Mid-Atlantic Region, followed by his election as Vice President and Regional Manager two years later. Throughout the past three decades, Dennis has emerged as a prominent figure spearheading numerous successful LiUNA endeavors. Notably, his pivotal involvement in facilitating workers’ choice regarding union membership during Fluor-Lane’s expansion of Route 495 Hot Lanes Project stands as a testament to his leadership. The resounding victory witnessed with workers overwhelmingly opting to join LiUNA Local 11 marked a significant triumph within Virginia’s construction landscape, resonating as one of the most notable union victories in recent memory.
Furthermore, Dennis Martire’s proactive engagement extends beyond individual project scopes. He diligently collaborated with Montgomery County, Maryland officials to enact prevailing wage legislation, aimed at safeguarding fair compensation for working families. Such legislative measures not only uphold equitable remuneration but also bolster taxpayer value by enhancing worker productivity. Extensive studies consistently affirm that prevailing wage laws yield enhanced worker efficiency, consequently expediting the completion of public works projects without unduly inflating costs for employers.
